English Learning

Step 1:  Language Level Assessment
  • If you are interested in learning English and wish to join an English class, you must first have your language skills tested.
  • A certified Canadian Language Benchmark assessor will test your English skills.
  • The assessment is valid for one year and is accepted in all LINC, ESL and ELT programs.
  • LINC assessors evaluate your language and training needs and refer you to the appropriate programs near your home according to your abilities, interests and needs.
  • If you are a Permanent Resident, Refugee Claimant or a Canadian Citizen, please call 1-855-330-8655 for a free language assessment from the Language Assessment Centre. A valid immigration document must be presented at your testing such as a PR Card, Canadian Citizenship Card, Passport or a Refugee Claimant document.
  • If you are a Visitor to Canada or on a Work Visa, for Oshawa please call 905-440-4489 to schedule a language test with one of our instructors. For Pickering please call 905-831-3118.
Step 2: Choose a Program
Childcare

Care for children is offered to eligible newcomers at no cost to the client as it is funded by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).

While you are studying in your LINC class, professionally trained workers will be supervising your child/children.  These are certified child care providers, who have had schooling, background checks and have been trained to provide your children with a positive educational experience.  Registered children will enjoy a variety of activities that will benefit their social, physical, and academic skills.

For more information, please call (905) 440-4489 (Oshawa) or (905) 831-3118 (Pickering).
